Customised labelling solution from PRISYMID increases productivity by 300 percent, improves efficiency and eliminates errors for NSK

Leading labelling software specialist, PRISYMID has recently solved a complex challenge for automotive component manufacturer NSK. Based on its advanced PRISYM software, the company has specially developed a flexible system for NSK that can handle vast amounts of data to produce both variable labels and shipping forms that meet the changing needs of NSK and its customers. 

The system, which has virtually eliminated errors, increased efficiency and minimised waste, is being used at the company’s European plants to produce pallet and box labels as well as shipment documents for six leading car manufacturers. Each of these NSK customers require labels and forms in differing formats so the PRISYM software has the flexibility to allow NSK to choose the combination of data that is printed for each customer.   

Colin Jones, System Projects Leader for NSK in Newark, explains: "The PRISYM system has had a huge impact in terms of improving efficiency and eliminating errors on shipment notes. Our old system took an hour to produce labels for 10 pallets. Our new system takes just 15 minutes and requires no intervention by an operator. The audit log feature also lets us investigate any queries that do arise."

He continues: "We have been very impressed by PRISYMID’s system and service. During development, their software developers visited us on site to observe our procedures, test the system and make changes. Under the maintenance contract we have, they are very quick to respond to our needs too. In fact, they usually send someone out the same day – even to our Barcelona factory!"

Prior to installing the customised PRISYM system, NSK inputted data manually, which meant it was slower and more susceptible to human error. The new system holds information on a central database making it more secure, accessible and faster.   

The labels and shipping documentation are printed with a wide combination of data, depending on the customer, which can include customer details, despatching warehouse, order number, pallet number, individual box numbers, customer part number, NSK part number, type of pallet and in some case vehicle registration number.
