NSK Eliminates Returned Goods Related to Labeling & Dispatch Note Errors |

Wokingham, United Kingdom - Monday 13th June 2011 – PRISYM Enterprise labeling system linked to NSK’s order management system has sped up dispatch eliminated labeling errors and massively reduced the number of returned goods saving NSK time and money. The Situation NSK is a bearings manufacturer supplying some of the top names in the automotive industry including BMW and Peugeot along with many in the aerospace and transport sectors. Many of NSK’s customers require ‘just in time’ deliveries to their manufacturing operations and heavy penalties are issued each time goods have to be returned. After looking into the scenarios for returned goods NSK found that the most common cause was discrepancies between the customer order and the dispatch notes and labels. It was decided to automate dispatch documentation and labeling across all four European plants. The Challenge The new system had to provide a link between customer orders, received as EDI messages and the related dispatch notes and labeling both of which were separate manual systems. The system would also need to allow customer specific formats to be set up and used. Variable data on dispatch notes and labels needed to be identical and correspond exactly with the customer order. The Solution PRISYM ID installed a solution based on PRISYM Enterprise that automated the design and production of dispatch notes and labels and was linked to NSK’s EDI server. PRISYM Enterprise was hosted on a central server accessible by the four sites. PRISYM Enterprise takes the EDI message and displays it as a new order which users are able to view. PRISYM then allows the user to select the corresponding, customer specific dispatch note format. PRISYM links each customer’s dispatch note format to predetermined databases so only the correct variable data can be used. A series of prompts in each format enable the user to confidently and quickly populate the dispatch note with the required variables. Once the dispatch note is produced the corresponding, customer specific labels are automatically generated using the same variable data.
